A Look Back…

I’m sure many of you are familiar with the TimeHop app or have at least seen these TimeHop posts on Facebook. TimeHop connects to all your social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. – and each day will give you a review of what you posted 1 year ago, 2 years ago, 3 years ago, etc.  I have a love-hate relationship with that app: I absolutely love it because it pops up fun memories and a lot of pictures of my growing boys, but I hate it for almost that exact same reason! I often wonder where the time has gone when my boys’ baby pictures come up or a post from 10 years ago seems like it only happen two years ago!

The item that came up a couple weeks ago was celebrating our name change from Memorial Home to Pine Village – it was a 5 year celebration. After my regularly occurring thought of ‘where does the time go,’ subsided I took a moment to reflect back over these past five years.

With our name change came new signage throughout all of campus – internal and external. I witnessed first-hand the outpouring of support for the Pine Village name as we received donations to cover the signage expenses.  We also did some updating internally, remodeling the main hallway and the Meadowbrook neighborhood to make those areas look and feel more homelike. The bathing rooms in The Neighborhoods also underwent some much needed renovations. Pine Village continued its commitment to person-centered care, as we achieved the highest level this past year in the state person-centered program of PEAK 2.0. We also expanded our transportation fleet adding our very own bus to allow us flexibility in scheduling trips or taking a spur of the moment drive somewhere. Most recently, we completed construction on the last lot on Iris Street, adding two more members to the Pine Village family! And we’ve continued to be blessed with great residents, awesome volunteers and community support!  Here’s to the next 5 years!

Be kind to one another!
